Spotlight: Ann S. Dickson

January 2022 –

This month’s board member spotlight is Ann Dickson. Ann is a retired federal civil service/program and budget officer and board director for the Bethlehem University Foundation. Learn more about her below:

Why Ann Supports Bethlehem University:
“I fell in love with the University on my first visit studying with Catholic Theological Union in 2008. Upon returning from that trip I was invested as a Dame of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and learned of the Order’s support of the University. It was the perfect match for me: the Order and the University. I then visited the University on each of my subsequent Pilgrimages and came to know Brothers and lay employees. Every visit increased my commitment to the University. I am planning my 10th visit for November 2021!!”

Bio:
“I was born and raised in New Jersey, the oldest of 8 children. After 12 years of Catholic elementary and high school, I attended and received a BA from Emmanuel College in Boston. My career began at the National Security Agency where I met my Army husband. We first moved to Hawaii where I worked for the Navy. We then moved to Ft. Leavenworth, KS and I began studies in Business Administration, continuing them when we moved to Germany and then Belgium. Returning to the USA to Virginia, I worked for the Army in Financial Management and completed my MBA at Virginia Tech. We moved to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1982 and I continued in Financial Management with the Army. Back to school too, I received an MA in Pastoral Ministry from the University of San Francisco. My husband died in 1993. I retired from Federal Service in 1999. I volunteer for my Parish, the Diocese of Tucson, the Equestrian Order, and now Bethlehem University Foundation. My 5 surviving siblings live in California, Washington, and Texas. I have 3 adult step-children who live in Utah. So from being very much an Easterner, I am now a converted Westerner!”

Fun Fact:
“I am trying to fill out my life as a pilgrim…so far: Canada, Mexico, Thailand, England, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Greece, Egypt, and Turkey. So much to experience, so little time…and money!!”
