Brother Ronald Gallagher, FSC, Ph.D. Short Bio:
Brother Ronald Gallagher, FSC, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Director for Bethlehem University Foundation. As a Christian brother, teacher, and administrator for over 50 years, Brother Ron brings years of invaluable experience and expertise to the Foundation. Brother Ron has held a variety of leadership and teaching positions in the Lasallian world, most notable: Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University from 1993-1997 and Secretary General of the Christian Brothers in Rome from 1997-2000.
He holds a Doctorate, Honoris Causa, from La Salle University, Dasmarinas, Philippines (2013), a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington (1990), a M.A. in Comparative Literature from San Francisco State University (1975), and a B.A. in English from Saint Mary’s College of California (1969). Brother Ron’s field of study and teaching specializes in Anglo-Irish literature and culture.
Before joining the Foundation, Brother Ron was an Associate Professor of English at Saint Mary’s College of California from 2018-2020. Brother Ron has served on many national and international committees, including the ACCU (Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities), IALU (International Association of Lasallian Universities), and IFCU (International Federation of Catholic Universities). He is also a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepluchre of Jerusalem.
In his spare time, Brother Ron enjoys learning languages, hiking, and playing golf and tennis. He currently resides at Saint Mary’s College of California.
