ICP Expansion Project

The Existing Facility:

Bethlehem University is suffering from lack of classrooms and offices, and has decided to redesign and expand one of its existing buildings by adding four new floors. The existing building is currently housing the Institute for Community Partnership (ICP) at Bethlehem University was founded in 1989 as one of the community-service extension units of Bethlehem University.

The New Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences Building:

This year, the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences received 608 applications, but was only able to accept 76 students due to the lack of facilities and space. It was decided to move the Faculty of Nursing and Health Science into the new building.   The new facility will provide additional classrooms, laboratories, offices, Student Lounge, and a courtyard, and improved car parking facilities, and enhanced landscaping. Over the years, the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences extended its programs to include Midwifery, Oncology and Palliative Care, Critical Care, Management Skills, Neonatal, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The new building not only will house these departments, but it will also house the Clinical Simulation Center, one of its kinds in Palestine and a Physiotherapy Center. These Centers, along with others, will offer training facilities not only for the students of Bethlehem University, but for other professionals in Palestine.

Originally conceived as a two-story addition to an existing building, the foundations can support five stories, so the project has been expanded. The new design maintains the integrity of the historically significant building already on the site, and includes two large open areas for students, using natural light from a north-facing glass frontage on levels 3 and 4.

We already have:

$1.5 million from the Middle Atlantic Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, in honor of the late Grand Master, His Eminence John Patrick Cardinal Foley.

$1 million from Mrs Suad Husseini Juffali of Saudi Arabia, in memory of her son, Tarek Ahmed Juffali.

But we still need:

A further $1.7 million before we can begin!

Friends of Cardinal Foley can honor his memory with their support of this project.

Bethlehem University is confident that the decision to relocate the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences to the new building is one that aimed at providing first class education and will provide for local needs of professional nurses and this is now a top priority for Bethlehem University.

Friends and supporters of the Bethlehem University throughout the world are helping to make this become a reality, and we very much call on you to consider supporting this initiative.  Please consider making a donation today.
