Spotlight: North Central Lieutenancy EOHSJ

December 2021 –

(Detroit, Michigan Investiture, 2019)

This month, we’re highlighting the North Central Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem for the many contributions they’ve made to the Bethlehem University Foundation over the years…in particular, The Most Reverend Robert C. Morlino Endowed Scholarship!

In June of 2020, the North Central Lieutenancy transferred the corpus of the Bishop Morlino Scholarship Fund ($177,000) to be held, invested, and administered by the Foundation. The North Central Lieutenancy established this endowed scholarship fund in 2003 for needy students attending Bethlehem University. The fund is in honor of Bishop Robert C. Morlino, who served as the Bishop of Madison, Wisconsin from 2003 until his death in 2018.

Endowed scholarships underwrite the cost of educating a student at Bethlehem University. With the average tuition at $2,500 and the cost incurred by the University at approximate $4,000 per student, the investment income generated by the Morlino scholarship annually provides more than $7,000 in tuition assistance for students enrolled in the University’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

The Bishop Morlino Endowed Scholarship is an investment into the health and welfare of the people of the Holy Land. Nurses are natural peacemakers, as they overcome racial and ethnic boundaries in their service to all. The students educated and formed at the School of Nursing, thanks to the generosity of the scholarship, upon their graduation will bring quality healthcare to all people in need, regardless of race or creed.
